GBF Strategy Ltd is a high-tech consultancy focused on early-stage MedTech. We concentrate on what we know, with deep experience in medical imaging and medical device technology development and commercialisation stretching back to 1998.
Our experienced consultants provide a range of services to bridge the gap between a proven technology and a commercially successful product, providing expertise in everything from market characterisation and freedom-to-operate planning to product design, regulatory, and reimbursement strategy.
GBF Strategy’s core team consists of Dr Gordon McKenzie, Engineer, and Dr Daniel Woods, Physicist.
Both have years of experience in the development and commercialisation of early stage medical devices, specialising in Imaging and AI applications in the Health Sector. They are ably supported by a team of scientific, commercial and financial experts who can be brought in as required.
Gordon has extensive applied strategic experience of application and proposition development. He co-founded, and then managed the program developing level 1 evidence for the commercialisation of OCT technology at Michelson Diagnostics. Having founded GBF Strategy, at Intelligent Ultrasound he developed their AI Screening value proposition and ran the application pilots that helped the company be acquired by Medaphor Group, followed shortly after by a major OEM licensing deal that put IU’s technology into GE’s Obstetric Ultrasound Systems as ‘Sonolyst’.
Gordon served as interim CEO for Sēon Diagnostics Ltd (then RetinaScan) during their corporate restructure, and serves as UK Clinical Consultant for VivaScope GmbH, a longstanding client specialising in confocal microscopy.
Dan has deep technical expertise in image analysis, and applications expertise in Ultrasound, CT, MR, Confocal Microscopy and Optical Coherence Tomography. He has a long record in the commercialisation of these technologies, working in the UK, Germany and The Netherlands, recently serving as interim CTO in Deep-Learning start-up Sēon Diagnostics Ltd.
As an Application Scientist and Senior Business Development Manager Dan developed commercially successful imaging solutions, measurements and biomarkers for obstetrics, aesthetic- and onco-dermatology, rheumatology, drug delivery, vascular and autoimmune conditions, tribology and other, non-medical, fields.
